HIMACHAL BACKPACKING TRIP | JIBHI-TIRTHAN VALLEY-SEROLSAR LAKE

Escape to the land of untouched pine forests, pristine streams, and mist-laden alpine valleys with this comprehensive weekend itinerary. Your journey starts on a Friday evening from Delhi, boarding an overnight Volvo/Traveler to comfortably transition from city life to the serene wilderness of Himachal Pradesh. Over the next three days, you will dive deep into the magical landscapes of the Banjar and Tirthan valleys, exploring hidden waterfalls, mystical caves, and snow-capped mountain boundaries.

One of the best things to do in Tirthan Valley is visit the Chhoie Waterfall. It is a short and easy walk of about 2 km from Gushaini village, which is only 8 km from Jibhi. The waterfall drops from a great height through thick green jungle, and the trail to reach it is very peaceful. You walk alongside the Tirthan River, which has some of the cleanest water you will ever see. The whole walk to the waterfall and back takes only 2 to 3 hours, so it is
perfect for the first day after a long night drive.

The next big highlight is the Jalori Pass and the Serolsar Lake trek. Jalori Pass is at 3,120 metres and is one of the lowest motorable mountain passes in the Himalayas — which means you can actually drive a car up to the pass! From Jalori Pass, you do a simple trek of about 5 km one way to reach Serolsar Lake, a beautiful peaceful lake surrounded by dense forests at 3,100 metres. The whole trek is gentle and easy, and the view from the pass —
with snow-covered peaks all around you — is something you will remember forever.

Your final day is dedicated to trekking down a narrow forested path to discover “Mini Thailand”—a secret natural pool locked between two massive moss-covered boulders that perfectly mimic a tropical paradise. and a lovely little local market with wooden shops selling local food and souvenirs.ibhi is the kind of place where you sit by the river, drink chai, and feel completely at peace with the world
